Freeway Fighters Digest (week of 1/22)

Lauren MayerWeekly News Digest

Hi all,

Here is what is being said about freeway fighting this week. If you come across any articles, feel free to share and please let me know if you have any questions.

For organizations: The Freeway Fighters Network Call for Action is calling on elected officials nationwide to champion a moratorium on new highway projects and instead prioritize maintenance, safety, transit, and reconnecting communities. We’re collecting organizational signatures FOR ONE MORE WEEK before we make it public! Sign on by January 31st and share widely with your partners and networks!

For individuals: USDOT is requiring state DOTs to calculate GHG emissions from their projects and set goals for reducing them. The rule certainly could be strong, but it’s an important first step towards transparency and accountability. America Walks has an action alert to tell your governors to set ambitious targets. You can send your message with just one click. Once again please share widely with your partners and networks!
Join us for our first Freeway Fighters Monthly Meetup of 2024! The meeting is on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 4:00 – 5:00pm ET. Join Zoom Meeting: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/85374450268.
